Many people struggle to keep their homes clean. Most of them do not know how to go about the process while others are just too lazy to even think about it. This post will look into some of the ways you can keep your home clean throughout the year.
Make Your Bed
Make your bed as you get up. Doing so will kick-start your productivity levels and reduce the temptation to crawl back into bed for more sleep. Once you make the bed, wipe the bedside table while you pick up your phone and other items. Before you retire to bed, make sure you hang the clothes you wore during the day. Don’t just throw them around, especially if you can wear them again before the laundry day.
Clean the Garage
The rubber seals on the garage door can deteriorate and allow some gaps in the seal due do to prolonged exposure to outdoor elements. It is thus important you clean the garage regularly to get rid of these outdoor elements and reduce the amount of debris and dust on the floor and walls. Sweep the floor with a soft broom at least once a week and mop thoroughly after every two months to remove dust, grease and other substances embedded on the floor.
Clear Out Unused Items
Many homeowners choose to keep unwanted items just because they fear they might need them someday. Chances are you won’t use any of these items. So clear them out to make your home free from clutter. These could be a piece of cloth you think may wear one day, a broken electronic you will repair or a board game with a missing piece that you hope you to find.
Clean Up the Grout
Grout is porous and absorbs a lot of dirt, creating stains on your wall, floors and counters. While it is possible to clean grouts yourself, it is highly recommended you hire someone who is specialized in grout cleaning to do the job. Most grout stains do not come off easily and might require specialized attention, which you may not provide.
Clean the Bathroom
Spray your bathroom with a cleaner after every shower. Wipe all the surfaces with a clean towel and let them rinse out. Make sure all your towels are on the hooks every time you leave the bathroom. This is to ensure they dry properly so that you can reuse them. If you have a countertop in the bathroom, make sure it is free from clutter. Also, make sure you clear and put away all the products you use in the bathroom.
Clean the Kitchen
In the morning, get rid of any utensils in the dishwasher. The dishwasher should be empty to accommodate your breakfast dishes. If you notice a spill on the countertop or floor, clean it right away. And if you are having trouble cleaning after meals, then clean as you cook. Start by making the prep work and cleaning all the utensils before you start cooking. Once the food is ready, rinse the utensils quickly before you start eating. Doing this regularly will make it less stressful to clean up after every meal.
Clean the Living Room
Before you start the day, make sure your living room is neat. Place dustbins in all the rooms every morning and empty the accumulated clutter into the main trashcan in the evening. If you love watching TV, use the commercial breaks to wipe down the coffee table and side tables. Keep all your bags and keys in a similar spot so that you have an easy time locating them. Take out the trash every morning and immediately store your workout gear.
Keeping a clean home is something you cannot afford to ignore. A clean home keeps your heart healthier, boosts your moods and creates a conducive and peaceful environment. Consider the tips discussed above, and you will have yourself to thank later.
